Offering elegant and spacious rooms ensuite and overlooking our very beautiful garden and the river and forest to the rear.   Whilst having beautiful views to the rear the house is within walking distance of all amenties within this pretty historical french village.  Within a short walk there is a water sports lake with family friendly beach for swimming, offering mini golf, childrens play area, water skiing and an auberge.  Moncontour has an XIth century donjon, ancient lavoirs (wash houses) and many forest and riverside walks.

Rooms are spacious and ensuite - our romantic double room with a charentaise fireplace and ensuite with both separate large shower and an antique roll top bath with gold coloured fittings.  Our family room offers space for a family of five.   The rooms offer tv - both french and english and drink making facilities.

Relax in the garden amongst the roses, herbs and mature trees - take shade from the midday sun on our rustic garden swing, under our ancient willow tree.  Relax alongside the beautiful meandering river Dive which backs onto our garden - sunloungers and tables and chairs are free of charge.

Ideally situated for either a long stay or for travelling through France.  Le Grand Saule in Moncontour is between 4 and 6 hours from channel ports and 6 to 8 hours from the mediterrean; and just 1.5 hours from La Rochelle.  Just 30 minutes drive from the Loire Valley Chateaux and 45 minutes from Poitiers and its famous themepark Futuroscope.
